Weekly Update 10/27/2020

Work continues throughout Phase 3 of the Streetscapes Project for Downtown Lafayette. This past week (October 19 – 23) saw the installation of safe temporary stone access points for residents and businesses. Huston Electric installed the electrical conduit on N. 10th Street, and also installed the streetlights along Main Street. The curb and gutter on the east side of N. 10th St. was also formed and poured. Other concrete work included the formation and pouring of the sidewalk along the west side of N. 10th Street and the concrete curb ramp on the NW corner of Columbia & 10th St. The Tuftile Radial ADA plates were then installed on the new curb ramps. Due to below freezing temperatures overnight, crews covered the freshly poured concrete with insulated concrete blankets so that the concrete could cure properly. This coming week (October 26 – November 1) will see a lot of concrete work being continued with the forming and pouring of the curb and gutter on N. 10th St. between Columbia and Main St.; the forming and pouring of the sidewalk on N. 10th St. between Columbia and Main St.; and the  framing and pouring of the concrete curb ramp at the NE corner of Columbia and 10th Streets. Huston Electric will be onsite again this week to continue installing the electrical conduit on N. 10th Street.
