Weekly Update (5/16/16-5/20/16)
This week the Main Street Streetscape project crew has been focused on the north side of Main Street between 4th and 5th, as well as 5th Street, north of Main. So far they have already installed new curbs and approaches, and have begun prepping for the sidewalks to be poured on Thursday. Once sidewalks have been poured and dried, paver paths will be next on the to do list.

The upper Main Street section is looking great with a freshly resurfaced road and intersection. Once the tree grates arrive from the supplier, they will be installed, which will complete this section until crews plant the trees later this fall.

Next Tuesday May 24th will be the next monthly Main Street business and property owner meeting at Lafayette Brewing Company at 9am. Join us and learn what to expect over the coming weeks and months as the project progresses, and ask any project questions you might have.
If you are looking for something to do this weekend Main Street will be busy, so come out and join the fun! Don’t forget parking is always available in the city parking garage on 5th and Columbia, which is free during the evenings and weekends. You can also find off-street parking on the blocks surrounding the project area.

Also, Lemonade Day is May 21, 2016 from 11:00am-3:00pm. For those of you that aren’t familiar with this program, the foremost objective of Lemonade Day is to empower youth to take ownership of their lives and become productive members of society – the business leaders, social advocates, volunteers, and forward thinking citizens of tomorrow. In effort to support our young entrepreneurs to develop into tomorrow’s business owners, they have been encouraged to setup downtown this year. Stands will be lined up along the sidewalks on Main Street between 4th and 7th, so they are near the traffic of the Farmer’s Market, which will be open from 8am-12:30p. What better place for the kids to see entrepreneurship in its true form than downtown. Hope to see you there!!
