Weekly Update 8/11/20

Exciting sidewalk progress is being made for Phase 3 of the Streetscapes Project for Downtown Lafayette! Last week, (August 3 – August 7) work consisted of the removal process of the sidewalk on the south side of Main St. between 10th & 11th Streets, along with the removal of the sidewalk along 11th St. between Main & Ferry Streets. Following this removal was the installation of temporary access points to business and residents. Decorative pavers on N. 10th St. were installed. Virtuous Cycles, one of the many local businesses downtown, saw bike racks in front of their 10th St. shop be installed and waterproofed. Huston electric and Duke Energy were onsite to install the electric conduit on Main St. and remove 2 old lighting poles. Work continued to move along the project as crews began to remove the curb and gutter on 11th St., followed by half the new curb and gutter’s concrete being poured. This coming week (August 10 – August 14) will see the completion of the curb and gutter removal, followed by the sidewalk framing process on 11th St. between Main and Ferry Streets.
