Weekly Update 9/1/20

Last week (August 24 – August 28) saw the continuation of concrete work on Main Street for Phase 3 of the Streetscapes Project for Downtown Lafayette. But concrete work was completed on 11^th Street between Main and Ferry! This allows for crews to advance along Main Street, installing the tree grates and forming the paver bases along Main Street. Also completed last week, was the rain garden upkeep on the northeast corner of Main and N. 10^th St., and the concrete work between 10^th and 11^th Streets. This upcoming week (August 31 – September 4) will see the beginning of the sidewalk removal process along Main Street between 10^th and 9^th Streets, followed by the framing of the new sidewalk. This concrete work will be accompanied by the installation of safe, temporary access points for residents and businesses.

Last week saw the first weekend of Fresh Air Eats, an outdoor dining and shopping experience downtown. Fridays from 4-10pm, Saturdays 11am – 10pm and Sundays 10:30am – 8pm, enjoy extended patio seating and closed down streets ideal for spending time socially distanced outdoors.
